There are twelve other short stories in the book and these entail incidents about Mulligans and similar forms of "legitimate cheating" at golf. Luscombe's travels takes the reader to Tucson AZ, Sarasota FL, Grand River (LI) NY, Keene NH, and a host of courses in nearby New Jersey. The book also includes a 10 page Glossary explaining the various types of Mulligans. Some of the types of Mulligans listed are:
Customer Golf Mulligan: Golf is ideally situated to stimulate business. Many a salesman, order pad in hand, offers his client a Mulligan in the hopes of enhancing transactional business. Some clients expect this form of generosity.
Executive Mulligan: By the power of his position in the corporate or political world, a golfer may just assume he is entitled to a Mulligan. No consultation with playing partners takes place--he just drops another ball and re-hits. Former President Clinton apparently uses this type of Mulligan. |
